ENGLISH SNOOKER
RULES
It takes place on a pool table larger than those in use, about 356 x 178 cm (12 feet), it is played with cues and 22 billiard balls, 15 red, 6 colored and 1 white.
CURIOSITY
Among the English fans of the game we can remember Mary Stuart of Scotland who, imprisoned in Fotheringay Castle in 1587, complained of being deprived of her pool table. Queen Victoria of England, Still in her home on the Isle of Wight, where she spent her holidays, you can visit her pool table room.
AMERICAN POOL
RULES
It is the most common billiard specialty in North America and has gained fame and success in almost all the world. All pool table specialties are played on a table with big pockets, the regulatory size is 254 x 127 cm (9 feet). It is played with sticks and 16 billiard balls, of which 15 colored and one white.
CURIOSITY
Several American movies show the game American Pool, such as The Color of Money and The Hustler, both played by Paul Newman.
RUSSIAN PYRAMID
RULES
It is a specialty of billiards widespread especially in the countries of the former Soviet Union. It is played on a pool table of 360 x 180 cm (12 feet) using the cues and 15 billiard balls.
CURIOSITY
Pool table game attracted the Russian nobility so much that in 1718 Tsar Peter the Great, by an official decree, imposed billiards as an obligatory hobby during the banquets of the nobility and Tsar Alexander II in honor of his coronation received as a gift from Napoleon III a richly ornamented pool table.
ITALIAN POOL GAME
RULES
It is a definition commonly attributed to a series of billiard specialties of Italian origin, played with or without cues. The pool tablesize is 270 x 135 cm.
CURIOSITY
In the aristocratic court of the Bourbons was played the specialty called Cinque Birilli, still among the most popular types of game, while in rural areas preferred the Gorizia also called Nove Birilli.
INTERNATIONAL
RULES
The size of this pool tableis 284 x 142 cm and it is played without pockets. .
CURIOSITY
The World Billiards Champion is Italian, Ciro Davide Rizzo and the podium is entirely Azzurri, the four finalists are all Italian.
